Think we all felt it was the best Cuppa Tea Club ever when we responded to requests for a Sing-a-long from the elderly who attend our monthly club for isolated elderly.
It took a surprising amount of time to wade through the astounding amount of variations of those old songs - who knew there would be 55 versions of Any Old Iron !
But come the day when we saw some of them getting euphoric as they sang along to songs they loved & then misty eyed when songs like "We'll meet again" made them reminisce about times gone by & lost loved ones - every minute spent setting this occasion up felt worth while.
We have a such a lovely caring team of volunteers who enjoy listening to the stories of our club members as much they love to tell them ! Thank you Debbie, Laura, Lucy & specially big thank you to Carol for coordinating the project & to Maggie who spent all afternoon filling the office with sounds of songs from yesteryear as we picked out the best version. ( Try getting "My old man said follow the van" out of you head after you've heard it twelve times in a row !)
