This tree started at 10am covered in little red tags. Each tag contained the name of a real local child living in refuge or temporary accommodation who we had visited to ask for their Christmas Wishes. Belfry shoppers, at our request, then went and bought the requested gifts which we wrapped on the day ready for our very own Santa to deliver to the children.
By the end of the day all the red tags were attached to gifts that had been bought and the tree was covered all the way round and from head to foot in soft toys ! This year the response from the public was so instantaneous and generous that we were able to add on another mini project to meet the needs of children at the refuge. See blog post above for more.
