Great Sports - Session 3Pictured here.. are 4 of the 10 year 9 pupils taking part in "Great Sports" Project at the Ashcombe School all lined up on the bench ready for a pep talk from Martin and professional footy coach Nick. The boys were selected for the project by their tutors who wanted to reward them for trying to overcome their problems at school.
Not really into to football enough to have ever played in a team, all the boys who have joined us for the project are flourishing as players and settling in really well under the uptempo style of professional football coach Nick Torpey and the encouragement of Martin Bangs, who as deputy coach, is brilliant at spotting and feeding back what they do well.
Great Sports is all about learning what it takes to be a great sport not just a skilled player, about having fun and building fitness with some treats built it - yesterday it was pizza all around. ( The BBQ Feast pizza was the business ! )
